Ghandruk is highly known for its sight-holding stone houses and culture-highlighting museums. Not only that, trekkers can get to see local Gurung dances and handicrafts.

There is another beautiful village or place along the way, i.e. Chhomrong. Here you can experience different blends of architecture and mountain ranges.

How long is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?

Most of the hikers like to trek Ghorepani – Poon Hill. Along with Annapurna Sanctuary. The Annapurna trekking takes thirteen days in total.

You will have to start at Kathmandu and head to Pokhara first. This is the only way to initiate your Annapurna Base Camp trek that starts from Poonhill.

The route kicks off in Hile and travels alongside the Modi River. And that too passes through thick bamboo and rhododendron trees.

As you move ahead in the journey, you’ll observe that the gorge narrows to only a few hundred meters wide at Hinku Cave. During the ongoing journey of the Annapurna Sanctuary, you’ll be instantly cheered up by the glorious snow-covered, steep ridges.

And for your kind information, it flows from Machhapuchhare on the right and Hiunchuli on the left. You pass the gate and enter the sanctuary, within a couple of minutes, you are welcomed by a thick wall of snow-covered peaks.

The Annapurna Base Camp Hike schedule along its course goes on starting and ending in Pokhara. Yet it can be additionally changed to have some more days of enjoyment at Annapurna Circuit Trek.

The journey wraps up as you fly back to Kathmandu finishing the 13-day adventure.

When you take the ABC trek, you will know how fit you are. It is a journey of stepping outside your comfort zone.

A challenge that may force you to do what you never thought before. The trek helps you become more aware of what your body can achieve thus making you want to break the boundaries you have set.

As that road takes you by beautiful scenes and distinctive ecosystems, you'll also experience a brief period of serenity and relaxation.

Safety and Tips for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

ABC is located at a comparatively higher elevation, therefore the chances of getting altitude sickness are way up.

Altitude sickness is a significant illness and you should be cautious of it. It is a phenomenon that you are a victim of when you get promoted or progress up the ladder too fast.

If there’s a warning sign of altitude sickness attention should be paid to movements toward the higher position gradually.

Altitude sickness is a serious issue that makes the journey tougher for a lot of trekkers. Especially when moving at a high altitude. Check if you've got a headache, feel like throwing up, are dizzy, and are super tired. Also, see if you're having trouble breathing.

These are the big signs to watch for when you're way up high. If you view or touch any of these signs, then you have to inform your guide immediately.

Speaking of which, there is a regulation of the trail where once you move above 3000 meters (9842 ft) you are required to spend not less than a night in every village.

This way, the body is gradually prepared to take in higher concentrations of oxygen that are inherent at higher altitudes.

But above all, one requires to be watered at such an altitude. The minimum requirement of water intake that needs to be adhered to is 3000 ml a day. Also, do not forget to buy travel insurance for altitude sickness and such things.

FAQs

It is recommended to go for trekking before the monsoon moves in. During which the third week of May is scheduled to be the last. Also, another perfect season is post-monsoon when September through November will be ideal for trekking as well.

There are not very many particular permits that might prevent permission to begin the Annapurna base camp. Nonetheless, a Trekkers' Information Management System card and an Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) may be required. In terms of getting these permits, Kathmandu and Pokhara are good places to get this done.

Here is an Annapurna Base Camp Trek that is of moderate difficulty. You do not require climbing skills for this trek. However, you have to be mentally prepared to go through some days of walking under adverse climatic conditions with high altitudes.

Regarding accommodation specifically, that would be tea houses or lodges, which include some basic comforts like beds, blankets, and meals. Further up the village, you will get better basic services or facilities and such quality is mostly subjective to your choice of accommodation.

Well, it is up to you one can always hire a guide/porter for his/her luxury or safety and also be guided by them throughout the journey whilst learning more about that place. Your journey will be easier with a guide, but porters carry the heavy loads.

For this, trekking boots, warm wear, a down sleeping bag, a medical kit, and water purification tablets. Your hygiene items are some of the equipment you will need.
